Marie-Claude Genereux’s pen name “Hinoraito” means (loosely) “Firelight” in Japanese. A name both reflective her passion for Japanese Pop Culture and her favorite colours (red, orange & yellow).
A Quebec based comic author and artist self-publishing comics since 2008. She is currently maintaining an online gallery at hinoraito.deviantart.com and sells her books and relating merchandise in various anime conventions in both Quebec and Ontario.
She has graduated from Concordia University in the Computation Arts specialization and received a golden key membership for being in the top 15% of her discipline. She has also been chosen as one of the international top 60 emerging mangakas (aka comic book artist)by a japanese publishing company Japanime Company Ltd (who made the series “How to Draw Manga”).
Her artistic goal is to create visual stories and use the knowledge gained through self-publishing to help other emerging comic authors.
Past work include an internship in a manga magazine based in Laval, Qc, “Spaced Out Volume 0″ and “Spaced Out Volume 1″ and a special feature in an upcoming artbook “Manga Without Borders 2″ featuring emerging mangakas.
